Duties/Pligte

  • Providing safe transport for research participants and staff to the research sites and imaging centres;
  • Assisting community research workers (CRWs) with home visits;
  • Maintaining vehicles, i.e. arranging for the vehicle service as required, and arranging for vehicle cleaning;
  • Transporting biological samples to relevant laboratories;
  • Attending relevant meetings;
  • Ensuring that relevant training and licencing is up to date;
  • Communicating with staff and research participants;
  • Performing recruitment liaising duties, including ensuring a positive relationship between SU and clinic staff:
  • Supporting community research workers;
  • Having regular meetings with CRWs and clinic staff;
  • Consenting participants and assisting with booking and scheduling their visits.

  • Vergader deurlopend met CRWs en kliniekpersoneel;
  • Verkry toestemming van deelnemers en verleen hulp om hul besoeke te bespreek en te skeduleer.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes

  • A valid drivers licence;
  • At least Grade 11;
  • Resides in Cape Town, in the vicinity of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences campus, Parow Valley;
  • Has reliable private transport to and from campus (situated near Tygerberg Hospital);
  • Regular and long-term experience with driving a vehicle, OR previous experience as an employed driver, with a reference;
  • PDP or eligibility to obtain PDP;
  • The ability to work well within a team as well as independently;
  • Willingness to transport potentially infectious people and samples (i.e. people with tuberculosis);
  • Good overall health;
  • The ability to speak, read and write Afrikaans and / or isiXhosa and / or English (at least two of the aforementioned);
  • Computer literate.

  • `n Geldige rybewys;
  • Ten minste Graad 11;
  • Woonagtig in Kaapstad, naby die Fakulteit Geneeskunde en Gesondheidswetenskaape se -kampus, Parowvallei;
  • Het betroubare private vervoer na en vanaf die kampus (naby Tygerberghospitaal);
  • Gereelde en langtermyn ervaring as voertuigbestuurder, OF vorige werkservaring as n bestuurder, met n verwysing;
  • PDP of die vermoë om PDP te verkry;
  • Goeie spanwerkvaardighede en die vermoë om onafhanklik te funksioneer;
  • Bereidwilligheid om potensieel aansteeklike mense (bv. TB-lyers) en monsters te vervoer;
  • Goeie algemene gesondheid;
  • Die vermoë om Afrikaans en / of isiXhosa en / of Engels te praat, lees en skryf (minstens twee van voorgenoemde tale);
  • Rekenaargeletterd.

Recommendation/Aanbeveling

  • Valid GCP and IATA certificates;
  • Previous experience with the formal transport of people;
  • Previous experience in the field of health and / or research;
  • Fluent in isiXhosa or Afrikaans.

Aanbevelings:

  • Geldige Goeie Kliniese Praktyk- en IATA-sertifikate;
  • Vorige ervaring met die formele vervoer van mense;
  • Vorige ervaring op die gebied van gesondheid en / of navorsing;
  • Vlot in isiXhosa of Afrikaans.
