About the role

The successful candidate will form part of the senior management team within finance which reports to the CFO of Vitality (South Africa) and assists the CFO in creation and execution of strategic objectives relating to finance business and product process design and management. The role is a hands-on strategic management role responsible for product ownership of the following products: gym, physical activity and devices, travel, money rewards as well as finance product process ownership for all other products.

Job Purpose

Outputs may include but are not limited to:
  • Engagement and stakeholder management
    • Collaborates and engages seamlessly across multiple teams within Vitality as well as across the broader Discovery Group, external partners and suppliers as necessary to ensure superior product and business solutions.
    • Ensures alignment of multiple stakeholders across different areas to agree outcomes - acts as a bridge between business and technical.
    • Seen as the trusted advisor and subject matter expert in the area
  • Process management relating to finance products and processes:
    • Proactively conducts ongoing assessments of the operational business processes efficiencies. Drives continuous improvement and process maturity with a strong innovation mindset.
    • Designs processes that are innovative, efficient and which leverage digital technologies
    • Deeply understands product, business processes as well as integration areas and is able to adapt them to design work
    • Uses best practice research to drive designs and collaboration
    • Responsible for driving and implementing process automation and creating efficiencies through new technology innovations
  • Works with key stakeholders (Research & Development, Product and Business Owners, Finance, Project Management, Development Team, Commercial Team, etc) to ensure seamless project delivery on product launches and benefit enhancements impacting finance products and process. Which includes but not limited to:
    • Contribute towards the conceptualisation of new products and the ongoing managing of the product development cycle from design to implementation as business owners of these key strategic products.
    • Extracts business requirements and reviews functional specifications as input into systems development
    • Overseeing delivery of necessary product specifications
    • Use project management techniques to manage product and prioritise backlog
    • Contribute towards developing internal business structures and practices that optimise the product development lifecycle.
  • Participates in capacity building and skills transfer
Education / Qualifications / Accreditations with ProfessionalBody
  • Bachelors degree - Business Management, Business Science, B. Com, Business Analysis, Process Design, Engineering, IT or similar
  • Honours or Masters degree (Preferred)
  • Relevant additional qualifications in the industry - e.g. process accreditation, Agile tool-based accreditations etc. (Advantageous)
Work Experience
  • 6+ years experience in business process analysis, process design and / or comparable consulting experience
  • Management consulting experience (Advantageous)
  • Experience with working in finance or with finance deliverables (Preferred)
  • Proven ability to deliver in a hands-on environment, taking full accountability for work objectives and associated benefits (Advantageous)
  • Experience in working on IT implementation projects or working in blended delivery teams (e.g. Agile) (Advantageous)
