Job Requisition and Recruiter Specialist details REQ: 138367 Role: Recoveries and Collections Specialist Recruiter Specialist: Lebohang Monate Area: 135 Rivonia, Sandton Advert closing date: 11/03/2025 Job Family Credit Career Stream Credit Recoveries Leadership Pipeline Manage Self: Professional Job Purpose Seeking an experienced attorney for our Unsecured Legal Recoveries Department to manage defended legal matters, general civil litigation and vendor relationships. This role involves overseeing legal milestones, ensuring compliance with timelines, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver optimal outcomes. Job Responsibilities
  • Represent the bank in defended legal matters, including civil litigation related to unsecured recoveries.
  • Oversee the management of accounts, ensuring timely receipt and review of documentations and reports from vendors and that all information including legal steps is recorded accurately in the internal systems.
  • Manage accounts milestones, oversee vendor compliance with SLAs and ensure timely action on all third-party requests.
  • Review pleadings, analyse defences (e.g., reckless lending, fraud, prescription) and provide strategic legal advice.
  • Analyse complex data sets to identify potential risks and proactively suggest mitigation strategies to minimize exposure.
  • Collaborate with vendors, Attorneys to ensure efficient matter progress and adherence to mandates.
  • Provide instructions on legal processes, sign off on settlements and monitor legal actions internal bank systems.
  • Action new allocations, ensure accounts are assigned to correct strategies (including prescription cases) and track matter progress.
  • Perform risk assessments, track recoveries and provide reports on defended matters and vendor performance. Ensure reports are accurate , clear and align to the business objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve client queries, complaints and provide timely documentation for investigations.
  • Management of performance outputs of various external and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide support for fraud, insurance and other specialised investigations as required.
  • Share knowledge and insights with wider team, providing training on legal processes. Assist in building a culture of continuous learning within the department.
  • Comply with governance in terms of legislation and audit requirements.
  • Management of Bank costs in terms of legal fees.
  • Updated with changes in the laws, regulations and industry best practices related to unsecure recoveries and ensuring the department is compliant with legal and regulatory requirements.
People Specification
  • Law degree with 3+ years post-admission experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a legal recoveries environment
  • Admitted attorney advantageous
  • Strong ability to analyse complex data, manage third-party vendors, and drive innovation.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, and collaborative environment.
  • Experience in civil litigation, vendor management and legal strategy.
Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
Preferred Qualification
  • Relevant Bachelors Degree in Law, Credit, Banking and/or Finance.
