The role of the Intern in the testing laboratories is to learn and to assist with the testing of samples submitted to the laboratory so that work is completed within required turnaround times. This includes but is not limited to equipment monitoring, conforming to and maintaining ISO17025 quality system in the test laboratory and working effectively with the relevant business service units in order to achieve these objectives. As for all team members, the Analyst is expected to champion AssureClouds promise, brand, standards and values.

Some responsibilities may include:

• Conduct simple and complex tests under supervision
• Conduct trouble shooting under supervision
• Improve laboratory efficiency
• Ensuring adherence to departmental TATs
• Early warnings to direct supervisor of any delay on TAT
• Oversee instrument operations
• Responsible for the upkeep of laboratory instruments
• Cleaning & disinfection of equipment
• Notification to management of calibration and service requests

• Preference will be given to employment equity candidates.
• No previous formal working experience.
• Recently graduated with a BSC or National Diploma in Biotechnology, Microbiology.
• Need to complete a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) / In-Service Training to obtain qualification in biotechnology.
