The African Union Development Agency invites applicants who are citizens of African Union Member States for the post of Communications Officer.

Under the supervision of the Head of Communications and Advocacy, the Communications Officer will support the implementation of AUDA-NEPADs communications strategy by developing and disseminating content, enhancing visibility, and driving stakeholder engagement. The Communication Officer also contributes to public awareness, media relations, and digital content management in alignment with Agenda 2063.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Brand communication knowledge

• Knowledge of new communication technologies including digital communications and social media management

• Knowledgeable in content creation for social media and other digital communication.

• Knowledge of digital marketing techniques and effective communication on digital platforms

• Graphic design and AI knowledge

• Communication, report writing, and presentation skills

• Planning and organisational skills

• Knowledge and operational understanding of AU policies, systems, and standards

• Ability to use Microsoft Office suite and AU computing systems

• Ability to work in teams and in a multi-cultural environment

• Research and Analytical skills

• Management and administrative skills

Education and Experience:

A minimum of a bachelors Degree in Public relations, Marketing Communications, or Journalism, with at least one (1)year of relevant work experience in corporate marketing, public relations, or media industry. Experience developing and implementing communication activities for national government or public sector, regional or international government or non-governmental organisations, multinational organisations, advertising agencies, or leading media companies will be a distinct advantage

• Professional certification/diploma in marketing or public relations will be an added advantage
• Additional level of academic qualification in Communication, Journalism, or related fields will be an advantage.

Remuneration:

• Indicative basic salary of US$28,976.97 per annum plus other entitlements e.g., Post Adjustment (57% of basic salary), Housing allowance ($21,832.68 per annum), gratuity (15% of gross salary) in conformity with the rules and procedures applicable to internationally recruited staff of the African Union.
