Focused on meeting the unique needs of its diverse clients, SC assists companies in creating and delivering customized employee benefits solutions, including the collection of premiums and communication to fund members.

The overall purpose of the role: We are looking for a meticulous and proactive professional to support our Group Risk Scheme Implementation team. In this role, you will have to perform specialized Group Risk Benefits knowledge and operating system level skills to ensure a successful and comprehensive system implementation of each individual client. You will perform your task with limited supervision, understands legislative and system level implications, and can exercise sound judgment to meet client expectations. Part of the implementation process will require you to engage and provide support to various internal and external stakeholders, including Retirement Fund Administrators, Distribution Channels, Intermediaries, and Front Offices. You will have to take the lead for implementing new clients onto our operating system, ensuring accurate processing of signed quotations and contract documentation. Your responsibilities will include verifying membership data, coordinating benefit structures, and ensuring smooth operational workflows related to premiums, claims, and underwriting. Key Responsibilities
  • Analyzing and interpreting complex supporting documentation and data to determine appropriate risk benefit structures aligned with signed quotations and policy requirements.
  • Managing the implementation of non-standard and complex group schemes, ensuring compliance and alignment with internal systems and external stakeholder expectations.
  • Coordinating with Retirement Fund Administrators across multiple Umbrella Funds to ensure consistent and accurate administration.
  • Facilitating the system setup of risk benefits tailored to the needs of each participating employer, often within Front Office arrangements.
  • Adapting to changing client requirements and operational procedures, integrating these seamlessly into existing workflows.
  • Conducting detailed testing and validation of data uploads at both employer and member level, ensuring benefit accuracy from inception.
Key Responsibilities (continues):
  • Overseeing amendments to risk benefit structures, including benefit additions, removals, and rate changes, while assessing the downstream impact on claims, underwriting, premiums, and member records.
  • Supporting the annual rate revision process, ensuring all risk benefit updates are reflected accurately in administrative systems.
  • Staying abreast of product developments and legislative changes, assessing their impact on implementation and client servicing.
  • Issuing Member Benefit Statements in line with PPR requirements, ensuring transparency and accuracy for individual members.
  • Managing member data uploads, group transfers, and medical underwriting requirements, including scenarios involving takeover cover.
Qualification and Experience:
  • Matric with Mathematicsand or Accounting (minimum C symbol)
  • A Minimum of 4 to 6 years experience in Group Risk environment with knowledge of the new business process.
  • Strong numerical and analytical ability.
  • Overall good knowledge and understanding of the different group risk benefit products, processes and services available to Employers for their employees.
  • Strong Outlook, Word & Excel skills to ensure that you will be able to perform all the different parts of the implementation process.
  • Understanding of Sanlam Group Risk Policies, Fund Rules, different Group Risk Products, and legislation linked to the implementation process.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Interpret and analyze detailed documentation specific to each client, applying strong group risk benefit knowledge and comprehensive technical expertise within the operating system.
  • Good understanding of the different group risk benefit insurance available to Employers for their employees.
  • Sound knowledge of products, processes, and services in the overall Group Risk environment.
  • Strong Outlook, Word & Excel skills to ensure that you will be able to perform all the different parts of the implementation process.
