REQUIREMENTS

· Bachelors degree or B-Tech in Environmental Management / Environmental Science or related applied environmental studies

· Registration as an Environmental Assessment Practitioner with EAPSA

· 5 years Environmental Management System experience

KEY PERFOMANCE AREAS

· Monitor environmental compliance to current policies, procedures, registers, legislation, and regulation

· Coordinate and schedule environmental surveys based on environmental compliance requirements, evaluate outcomes, and report deviations

· Conduct environmental assessments and prepare Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs)

· Continuously monitor updates in legislation that might impact procedures, policies, permits, and licensing.

· Communicate changes to the Environmental Manager

· Monitor compliance status via plant and site inspections, legal registers, internal plant-based registers, and validity of all permits and licensing as per legislation and regulatory ISO14001:2015 requirements

· Report risks, loading of environmental incidents/non-conformances, responsible for root cause analysis, corrective and preventative action.

· Conduct Environmental risk assessments and implement necessary control measures

· Evaluate test results received from third-party contractors in relation to our permit and licensing conditions and parameters.

· Report any deviations to Environmental Weekly monitoring of abstraction volumes to ensure we remain within allowed abstraction volumes as per water use license

· Develop and implement Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) for construction projects

· Monitor site activities for environmental compliance, ensuring adherence to relevant laws and standards.

· Recommend corrective actions to mitigate environmental risks such as pollution, habitat destruction, and waste generation

· Promote sustainable practices, including water conservation, energy efficiency, and waste reduction.

· Liaise with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and community groups regarding environmental concerns

· Prepare reports on environmental performance and compliance for internal and external stakeholders.

· Set, monitor, and report on environmental targets and objectives, tracking progress and identifying areas for improvement

· Provide technical advice and guidance on environmental compliance, auditing, and monitoring processes

· Establish and maintain relationships with regulatory authorities and stay informed on regulatory updates and changes

· Oversee contractor management to ensure adherence to environmental standards and compliance guidelines

· Facilitate and guide public and community engagement processes, fostering transparent communication and trust with stakeholders

· Prepare, review, and update environmental policies, procedures, and documentation
