Farm/Reserve Manager

The Greater Cradle Nature Reserve is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Farm/Reserve Manager.

Located in the heart of the Cradle of Humankind, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the 9,000-hectare nature reserve is just 30 minutes from Pretoria and Johannesburg in Gauteng. The reserve features approximately 35 km of fencing, 50 km of gravel roads, and multiple hospitality businesses, workshops and buildings, all requiring consistent maintenance and care.

The Farm/Reserve Manager will oversee the efficient management of the reserves infrastructure and operational activities while ensuring prompt service delivery to all internal stakeholders. Given the unique nature of this role, candidates with 5 or more years of experience in reserve or farm management with a hospitality component will be prioritised.

This position is crucial for maintaining the ecological integrity of the reserve while ensuring the safety, functionality, and sustainability of all operational systems. The role includes managing a team of over 52 individuals and reporting to the Reserve CEO.

Key responsibilities will primarily involve:

· Maintenance of fencing, roads, power generators, water supply and general infrastructure.

· Fire control management.

· Business planning and controls.

Applicants should demonstrate expertise in:

· Wildlife reserve management.

· Relevant artisanal skills/qualifications (e.g., electrical, mechanical, diesel, boiler making, building).

· Coordination and collaboration with onsite hospitality entities (e.g., lodges, guesthouses, restaurants).

· Basic computer literacy (MS Word, Excel).

· Budget planning and overall management.
