  • Grade 12 preferably with Mathematics and Physical Science as a
passed subjects or equivalent (NQF4) or relevant full NQF4 or relevant NTC III or completed relevant trade related learnership NQF2
  • Up to 1 years relevant experience on a Water Treatment
Plant/Reservoir.
  • The ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Willingness to perform shift duties on a roster basis, work
overtime when required during emergencies and work in all weather conditions.
  • Drivers licence Code B will be advantageous.
Key Performance Areas
  • Conduct visual inspection.
  • Check and record readings.
  • Perform chlorine residual and other tests and analysis.
  • Collect water samples.
  • Use handheld tools to operate large pumps and blowers, etc.
  • Dose and mix chemicals.
  • Perform housekeeping and maintenance duties.
  • Report deviations, incidents and security breaches to the
Supervisor.
  • Operate the switchboard and radio communications.
  • Monitor and carry out chlorine drum changes to ensure chlorine
supply.
  • Control valves and sluice gate dam levels.
  • Be involved with the safety programme and planned Shutdowns.
  • Manually clean slow sand filters.
  • To be trained and certified competent in Handling of
  • Hazardous Chemicals.
  • Will be required to ensure management with the Safety, Health
Risk, and Environmental & Quality program.
  • May be required to work emergency overtime.
  • May be required to do driving duties for transport of staff of
rotating shift.
  • The treatment process units may be subject to change and new
operating systems may be introduced with appropriate training.
