About the Position:

We are looking for a Crates Clerk to manage the daily administration of all transport activities including Crates. You will be preparing transportation records, coordinating the safe and timely transportation of our products. To assist the department with the effective, accurate and timely administration of the specific transport and crates function.

Working Conditions:

Contract type: Permanent

Overtime hours are applicable for this role.

Number of positions: One (1)

Location of position: Kya Sands, Johannesburg

The position will be responsible for:

Manage the storage of crates within the company and capture all movements in crates

Liaise with the drivers to ensure that they collect crates from the customers and properly account for them

Report to the technical department of any returns or quality issues of products

Check invoices from drivers and record any missing invoices

Report to debtors department of any shortages or missing invoices

Collect and file PODS from all drivers

Daily records of all PODS.

Capture all crates on Chep system, Issuing, Posting and transfers.

Issue of crates into production as when required with proper documentation.

Count and record crates (Chep, Deep, Flat etc)

Accurate Document control of all Chep Documentation.

Work in accordance with Transport Department SOPS

Be responsible for the accurate filling and retrieval of documentation in accordance with the departmental systems and procedures.

Dealing swiftly with any crate/ invoice queries.

Printing Driver Trip Sheets and ensure completeness

Daily filing of both trip sheets and despatch route sheets

Update actual arrival times

Update and maintain transport trackers records

Plan and organise transportation schedules and routes of our products delivery

Handling customer queries and escalating complaints to management

Daily completion of all relevant paperwork

Maintain and distribute daily and weekly pallet and crates reports.

Liaise with and resolve queries with CHEP, transport providers and sales team.

Administrator PODs and recovery of pallets and crates.

Review and provide a report of outstanding pallets and crates.

Ensure accurate administration relating to CHEP documentation.

Report on quality inspections and pallet counts for all sites

Daily filing and record keeping of documentation (Repairs, Quotes, Staffing rosters etc)

Liaise with Driver and Clients as an when necessary

Assist in retrieval of quotations as and when required.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role you will need to meet the below requirements:

  • Grade 12
  • Fully Computer Literate (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint presentations)
  • Strong Communication Skills and ability to deal with employees at all levels
  • Problem- solving Techniques
  • Able to follow instructions
  • Must be able to comply with deadlines
  • Strong Administrative Skills
