The purpose of the role is as follows: To conduct research and provide analysis on the financial stability of an entity to make recommendations to investors regarding credit risk. Are you someone who can do the following:
- Analyse JSE-listed credit and formulate strategies to equip and enable clients to make informed decisions on investments
- Provide subject matter expertise in analysing issuers across sectors (banks, corporates, SOEs and securitisation)
- Conduct extensive financial research and analysis on entities within specific sectors or industries, and collaborate with internal contacts (trading, sales, investment banking, etc.) and external clients (money managers, pension funds, hedge funds, etc.) to better evaluate the credit markets
- Perform detailed research on credit history and utilise financial and other information i.e., income information, credit history, balance sheets etc., to make a judgement on creditworthiness
- Perform investigations on financial data to evaluate the extent of credit risk posed to the organisation
- Develop and use analytics and formulas to determine a basic assessment of overall risk posed
- Provide the organisation/business unit with information pertaining to loan history or lines of credit, the timeline of repayment, available financing to cover credit etc.
- Compile reports that track progress and guide business to make informed decisions
- Build and maintain professional working relationships with all stakeholders, displaying excellent abilities to initiate dialogue, listen, advise, influence, and negotiate to achieve win-win outcomes.
- Initiate meetings with key stakeholders to track progress, manage expectations and ensure stakeholders requirements are delivered
- Engage in cross-functional relationships to obtain and to provide work support
- Contribute to sustaining a competitive edge through external networking, benchmarking, and representation on related forums
- Minimum qualification: BCom Honours, B Bus Sc in a finance or accounting-related field
- Preferred qualification: CA(SA), CFA or equivalent
- Minimum 10 years experience in a listed credit market environment, or, preferably, alongside listed credit dealers/traders, with at least five years experience leading a team of credit analysts.
