Crowd Controller

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION.

To ensure the safety and security of attendees at large events, public gatherings, protests, or any situation involving large crowds. The crowd controller manages crowd dynamics, prevents crowd-related incidents, enforces safety protocols, and responds to emergencies to maintain a safe environment for both the public and event staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing Crowd Safety: Ensuring the safe movement and behavior of large crowds during events or gatherings.
  • Monitoring and Risk Assessment: Observing crowd dynamics, identifying potential risks, and reporting concerns.
  • Enforcing Rules: Implementing safety protocols and event regulations to maintain order and protect attendees.
  • Conflict Management: Handling disruptive individuals and preventing escalation of conflicts.
  • Emergency Response: Responding swiftly to emergencies and coordinating with security or emergency services.
  • Communication: Acting as a point of contact for attendees and collaborating with event staff and law enforcement.
  • Surveillance: Keeping watch for suspicious activities and potential security threats.
  • Documentation: Reporting incidents and maintaining records of any security-related events.

Requirements

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) with at least 3 years of experience in a related field.
  • Valid PSIRA Grade B certification.
  • Riot and Crowd Control Management Training Certificate.
  • South African Identity Document (SA ID)
