Financial Systems Analyst

Job Advert Summary The role of the Financial Systems Analyst is to apply a thorough knowledge of accounting functions to support the finance division in its use of the financial systems and workflows, which includes, but is not limited to, accounting, costing, sales, reconciliation, budgeting, access/control, tracking and reporting functions. This includes assessing the needs of the finance division by addressing financial system requirements, identifying training requirements on the use of financial systems and function as a liaison to the Information Technology Department for planning, implementation, and maintenance efforts related to the financial systems. Works closely with other finance staff to analyse, document and identify business and technical solutions to finance problems and needs. Identifies and designs process improvements in relationship to financial systems, and related workflow processes and approvals, including the supervision and improvement of the finance software applications used within the organisation for the purpose of business operations. Minimum Requirements

• Minimum - Bachelors Degree.

• Internationally recognised accounting designation (CA/CPA/CIMA/SAIPA).

• At least 5 years of relevant work experience.

• Consolidation software experience would be an asset.

• Technical knowledge of financial applications and systems.

• Minimum 7 years experience in SYSPRO.

• Financial software development skills an advantage.

• Experience within an international organizational structure with a multi-currency environment required.

• Self-motivated, strong sense of urgency, highly organized and able to effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

• Ability to identify problems or gaps in financial systems of the organization.

• Diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for the improvement and operation of financial systems connected to the collection, retrieval, accessibility, and usage of financial data to facilitate planning and activities.

• Reviews end user security, access and configurations with stakeholders and request changes and modifications via the IT Support Desk.

• Provides support for configuration changes, workflow changes, and other financial system process modifications.

• Participates in change control management of financial systems.

• Assist with support of financial systems through the IT Support Desk.

• Apply expert knowledge to users in the utilization of the financial systems.

• Provide support to cross-functional teams in addressing financial systems issues, month-end processes (month end tasks, reconciliations, and reporting), training, advice, and feedback.

• Works closely with technical staff, vendors, and other contacts from within the company to ensure timely and efficient completion of finance systems projects.

• Responsible for advising the Group Accountant on options for new processes or workflows that can aid in operational efficiency and effectiveness.

• Work with the Business Process and Information Systems Manager to determine the effect of upgrades on financial systems, including coordinating activities to ensure the upgrades will integrate with the current financial systems.

• Work with the Data and Business Intelligence Manager to assist with identify reporting requirements and assist the finance team to review the effectiveness of existing reporting solutions continually.

• Assist the group Accountant in the development of policies relating to financial systems applications.
