JOB SCOPE

The Impact Director leads the organizations efforts to measure, evaluate, and amplify the effectiveness of its programs, ensuring they are outcome-focused and generate meaningful social and economic returns. This role is responsible for developing and implementing robust impact measurement frameworks, utilizing Social Return on Investment (SROI) methodologies, and integrating evidence-based learning to strengthen program quality. The Impact Director will work closely with program teams, MEL staff, and external stakeholders to ensure transparent reporting and continuous improvement of impact-driven initiatives.

Core duties and responsibilities include:

  • Design and implement a global outcomes framework, defining key impact indicators that align with international and regional priorities.
  • Lead the development and refinement of SROI methodologies to quantify the social, economic, and community value generated by the organizations activities.
  • Establish and oversee monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks that track program effectiveness, ensuring all initiatives align with the organizations mission and strategy.
  • Ensure impact measurement frameworks support leadership in evidence-based decision-making, shaping programmatic and strategic improvements.
  • Develop and oversee MEL systems to track program fidelity, outputs, and long-term impact.
  • Implement quality assurance processes to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across all impact measurement activities.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to assess program effectiveness and long-term benefits, ensuring continuous refinement of interventions.
  • Facilitate feedback loops between impact data and program development, enabling teams to adapt and optimize interventions for maximum social return.
  • Lead the design and execution of SROI studies, assessing the financial and social value created by the organizations initiatives.
  • Analyze and report SROI findings to leadership, program designers, and funders to optimize impact efficiency and resource allocation.
  • Ensure SROI methodologies remain cutting-edge by integrating best practices from impact investment and social finance fields.
  • Drive the adoption of innovative tools and methodologies to refine impact measurement and reporting processes.
  • Translate data insights into program enhancements, ensuring interventions maximize intended outcomes and remain scalable.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, leveraging impact data to inform program improvements and refine theories of change.
  • Work closely with the Development Director to align impact reporting with institutional donor requirements and partnership retention strategies.
  • Stay updated on global best practices in impact assessment, SROI, and MEL methodologies, ensuring the organization remains a leader in social impact measurement.

CORE COMPETENCIES, ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS and PREFERENCES

Education/

Equivalent:

Bachelors Degree in social sciences, data science, quantitative methods, systems thinking, or a related field. (Masters preferred)

Experience/

Skills

  • 6 to 8 years in impact measurement, MEL systems, or social research, preferably within the international development or social enterprise sector.
  • Direct experience in SROI analysis and impact finance metrics development.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills, with experience in data visualization tools and impact reporting platforms.
  • Proficiency in theories of change, logic models, and results frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex impact data into actionable insights for leadership, funders, and program teams.
