Machinery Maintenance Technician

The Machinery Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, safety, and reliability of all production equipment. This role plays a key part in minimizing downtime, improving efficiency, and maintaining high-quality standards by conducting preventive maintenance, troubleshooting breakdowns, and implementing effective repair solutions. This role also further extends to the maintenance of properties and buildings on site.

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and scheduled maintenance of ( machinery, properties and buildings)
  • Respond to emergency calls when directed by employer or office staff
  • Prioritize work to complete assignments in a timely manner
  • Complete related paperwork as directed
  • To clean light fittings and to test lighting systems replacing where necessary minor parts such as tubes, bulbs, fuses starters and diffusers, in accordance with safe working practiced when supervised by qualified personal
  • Plumbing: To arrange to clear blockages, remove foreign matter from sinks, toilets, pipes, drains, kitchen grease traps and clean up spillages as required practiced when supervised by qualified personal
  • Painting and Decorating - as required
  • Maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all maintenance projects
  • Carry out minor repairs and services on all electrical equipment and appliances
  • Utilize correct signage when attending to the various tasks in the facilities, such as "wet paint" or "wet floor: slippery under foot"
  • Fix and maintain conveyor belts in the production area
  • In all cases, the employee has a duty to report all problems, issues and work related matters promptly to the employer
  • Miscellaneous tasks to be attended to with discretion supporting duties relating to machinery, properties and buildings.

Job specifications and experience:

  • Min Matric plus min 3-5 years of electrical and/or mechanical relevant working experience
  • Electrical or mechanical qualification is advantageous
  • Valid drivers license essential
  • Electronic component testing
  • Ability to work over weekends, standby and overtime
  • Excellent clear and comprehensible communication skills
  • Experience and or ability to learn new machinery quickly
