Mechanical Fitter

Are you a skilled Mechanical Fitter ready to make a real impact in a dynamic, fast-paced food manufacturing environment? Our fish and seafood processing factory is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Mechanical Fitter to join our maintenance team.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements:

• N3 Certificate or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Recognized Trade Test as a Mechanical Fitter (Red Seal preferred).
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment (food or FMCG preferred).
• Experience with Baader machines, multiformers, bowl choppers, and conveyor systems is highly advantageous.
• Basic knowledge of steam systems, pneumatics, and hydraulics.

Key Responsibilities

· Ensure maximum equipment uptime by performing scheduled and preventative maintenance.

· Conduct fault-finding and root cause analysis on mechanical breakdowns.

· Oversee the assembly, installation, and alignment of mechanical components and systems.

· Maintain and repair pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, chutes, blades, and production equipment.

· Respond swiftly to breakdowns, minimizing production disruption.

· Complete job cards and update maintenance logs accurately and timeously.

· Comply with health and safety protocols and ensure safe working conditions.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and schematics.
• Good communication and teamwork.
• Physically fit and able to work shifts, overtime, and weekends as required.
• Self-driven, with a commitment to continuous improvement and production support.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: R18 000,00 - R25 000,00 per month
