Medical Head
The Medical Head is responsible for developing and executing the medical strategy to ensure scientific excellence, regulatory compliance, and strong engagement with healthcare professionals (HCPs). This role will oversee medical affairs, policy development, risk management, and stakeholder collaboration, ensuring that all initiatives align with global best practices and organizational goals.
Duties:
- Medical Strategy & Leadership
· Develop and implement evidence-based medical strategies that support the organizations vision and objectives.
· Lead and supervise the medical division, ensuring high performance through effective team management and capacity building.
· Establish and enforce clinical policies, protocols, and guidelines to enhance patient safety and treatment outcomes.
· Oversee risk management within the division and implement mitigation strategies to ensure compliance with medical regulations.
- Scientific & Regulatory Excellence
· Ensure all medical activities adhere to international and regional healthcare regulations, ethical standards, and scientific best practices.
· Drive continuous medical research, scientific publications, and innovation in key therapeutic areas.
· Engage with regulatory bodies, professional associations, and key opinion leaders (KOLs) to advocate for industry standards and best practices.
- Stakeholder Engagement & External Representation
· Build and maintain strong partnerships with health ministries, regional economic communities (RECs), professional medical bodies, and international organizations.
· Represent the organization at global medical conferences, policy forums, and strategic healthcare initiatives to enhance visibility and influence.
· Develop and oversee medical education programs for healthcare professionals (HCPs), patients, and other stakeholders.
- Policy Development & Program Management
· Design and implement healthcare policies and programs aligned with national and regional health priorities.
· Contribute to the development and execution of the departments business continuity plan.
· Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation within the medical division.
· Lead funding mobilization efforts by engaging with donors, governments, and private sector partners to secure financial support for medical programs.
- Team Development & Organizational Culture
· Create a high-performance work environment that fosters collaboration, professional growth, and innovation.
· Lead talent development initiatives, ensuring that staff members receive continuous training, mentorship, and career development opportunities.
Required Experience:
- Medical Degree (MD, MBBS, BMBCh) with a minimum of 12 years of relevant post-qualification experience.
- Masters degree in Medicine or a specialized field (e.g., Laboratory Medicine, Radiology, Clinical Pharmacology) is highly preferred.
- Membership in a professional Regional College of Physicians (Pathologists, Radiologists, or Pharmacologists) is required.
- At least 12 years of experience in a medical leadership role, including:
- 7 years at a managerial level.
- 5 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Experience in government healthcare systems, private practice, international organizations, or global health initiatives.
- Proven expertise in policy analysis, healthcare strategy development, and program management.
- Strong background in logistics and supply chain management within medical settings.
- Strategic Leadership: Ability to set a clear medical vision and drive high-impact healthcare initiatives.
- Regulatory & Compliance Expertise: In-depth knowledge of global and regional healthcare regulations.
- Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to build partnerships with healthcare authorities, donors, and industry leaders.
- Scientific & Medical Communication: Strong scientific writing, presentation, and publication record.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Experience in budget planning, risk assessment, and performance evaluation.
- People Management: Skilled at leading, mentoring, and developing diverse, multicultural teams.
- Proficiency in one of the company working languages (English, French)
