Operational Risk Head

Job Description To provide oversight in the identification, control implementation, monitoring and management of risk across the business with a view to enabling the achievement of stated business goals and objectives, while maintaining adherence to the Divisions approved risk appetite and risk management frameworks to ensure they keep up with the changes in the business environment and are aligned to the Divisions business requirements and practical realities
  • Manage expenditure planning and variances within approved budget parameters.
  • Manage risk losses for the overall business.
  • Design and deliver customer service solutions, systems and interactions aligned to Organisational values and service standards that build the brand.
  • Ensure optimised customer experience and service throughout the value chain.
  • Establish mutually beneficial relationships with stakeholders that support thought leadership, innovative and integrated practice solutions.
  • Ensure integrated view and reporting of relevant business information.
  • Analyse information to identify trends, discrepancies and inconsistencies for decision making purposes.
  • Ensure reporting of identified inconsistencies or opportunities.
  • Use the insights gained through integrated business reports to measure success and realign tactical strategy implementation objectives appropriately.
  • Provide input into, and implement, corporate governance, compliance, integrity and ethics policies in are of accountability to identify and manage risk exposure.
  • Stays abreast of relevant industry risk management best practices and legislative amendments and suggests ways to leverage these to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Creates risk awareness and manages audit findings.
  • Participate in Group risk forums where required and cascades relevant information through team.
  • Execute the Group risk management requirements and align Formulate tactical delivery plans to implement the Ops Risk CRO strategy.
  • Establish a well-informed risk management program for the business (in line with area of risk specialisation) giving comprehensive coverage of all key risks and emerging risks applicable to area of specialisation.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to the business in the assessment and identification of potential and emerging risks across business and the effectiveness of existing controls to identify gaps and improvement requirements Provide leadership and guidance in the planning and coordination of control testing initiatives to ensure focus on key themes relevant to the Divisional and Functional strategy.
  • Advise and provide oversight to business in putting plans in place to mitigate identified risks and issues as well as to improve identified control weaknesses in a cost effective and practical manner.
  • Provide guidance in defining risk appetite, balancing all critical considerations (i.e., risks and rewards) and ensuring that the appetite is well understood by relevant stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviour through personal involvement, commitment and dedication in support of organisational values.
  • Manage team or teams in areas of responsibility in delivery against performance targets and achievement of wider human capital objectives.
