Product & Trade Marketer Location: Woodmead, Johannesburg Job Overview: This dynamic role blends the strategic focus of a Product Manager with the retail execution expertise of a Trade Marketeer. You will be responsible for driving the growth of key "pillar" products within the Luxe Division, maximizing brand presence and sales performance through targeted trade marketing initiatives and strong retailer relationships. This involves a deep understanding of consumer behavior, market dynamics, and competitive landscapes. Key Responsibilities:
  • Product Management:
  • Analyze consumer and market insights to formulate product strategies and make recommendations to management.
  • Develop and execute innovative marketing mix strategies (IMC/360/Digital/Retail) for pillar products, ensuring integrated and engaging consumer experiences.
  • Manage the product lifecycle, including new product launches and sustaining growth for existing products.
  • Manage the product marketing budget and ensure accurate sales forecasting.
  • Protect and nurture the brand identity, ensuring all activities align with the brands values and purpose.
  • Trade Marketing:
  • Develop and implement targeted trade marketing programs for retailers, in collaboration with commercial and marketing teams, to drive sales and increase brand visibility.
  • Manage the budget and ROI for trade marketing activities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with retailers, understanding their needs and developing joint business plans.
  • Negotiate with retailers, build compelling selling propositions, and drive point-of-sale execution.
  • Report market intelligence and sales needs to relevant stakeholders (CMO, commercial/marketing teams).
  • Collaboration & Communication:
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (sales, logistics, education, etc.) and external agencies to execute integrated brand and trade marketing strategies.
  • Effectively communicate product and market insights, strategic recommendations, and performance updates to senior management.
Professional & Technical Competencies:
  • Deep understanding of commerce fundamentals, business drivers, and marketing principles.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate consumer and market insights into actionable plans.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute successful marketing campaigns across multiple channels (digital, retail, etc.).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets, forecast sales, and track ROI.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelors degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in a marketing role, ideally within the retail, beauty, or luxury goods industry, with a demonstrable track record of success in both product and trade marketing.
