Purchasing Manager

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE We are looking to employ highly motivated, analytical and detail orientated Purchasing Manager to lead and manage Operational Purchasing to ensure optimal inventory and availability of Direct and Indirect materials, Purchased Finished Goods, and/or Direct Packaging Materials, based on Group Purchasings regional and global agreements. This position is based in Blackheath, Cape Town and reports to the Operations Manager. Responsibilities:
  • Lead the local function in line with Leadership Expectations and tools to develop, coach, and guide its members to ensure a workforce that is competent, engaged, and enabled to meet Jotuns current and future needs.
  • Facilitate cross-functional cooperation and ensure optimal Raw Materials/ Purchased Finished Goods /Direct Packaging Materials planning and execution and that all these are ordered in line with price agreements and allocations given by Group Purchasing category managers.
  • Communicate with GP category managers regarding Raw Materials/ Purchased Finished Goods /Direct Packaging Materials requirements, supplier performance, shortages, non-conformances and follow up Raw Material orders, communicating issues as needed.
  • Evaluate optimal logistics solution, considering packaging type and size, lot size, use of distributors, transport, local customs regulations, local laws, etc., for all RMs and communicate the findings to relevant GP category managers.
  • Support GP category managers in identifying potential local suppliers and maintaining existing relationships (including supplier audits and participation in supplier meetings on request from GP category managers)
  • Ensure supplier invoice control is carried out in line with company guidelines, relevant customs regulations and procedures are followed and facilitated, and all supplier invoices are paid within the due date.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR AND WHAT WE OFFER Qualifications
    • Bachelors Degree or equivalent
    • Purchasing qualification advantageous
    • 4-6 years experience in similar position specializing in Imports
    • Chemical industry experience advantageous
    • Working knowledge of INCOTERMS
    • Advanced MS Office, Excel, Pivot Table, Vlook Up, ERP systems (SAP, IFS, etc) is a must.
    • Fluent in in English & Afrikaans (written and verbal)
