SHEQ Officer
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive SHEQ Officer to support our commitment to maintaining the highest standards in safety, health, environmentalsustainability, and quality assurance. Key Responsibilities
Safety Oversight & Incident Management:
Conduct routine workplace inspections, identify safety risks, and lead investigations into incidents and near-misses to ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
- Risk Identification & Mitigation:
Perform comprehensive risk assessments and recommend practical risk control measures to minimize exposure across the organization.
- Policy and Procedure Development:
Draft, review, and enforce SHEQ-related policies in line with South African legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act) and
National Environmental Management Act (NEMA).
- Employee Training & Support:
Facilitate SHEQ training sessions and provide on-the-ground support to employees, promoting awareness and adherence to safety and environmental
protocols.
- Regulatory Compliance:
Monitor and ensure ongoing compliance with applicable health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations and standards.
- Environmental Impact Monitoring:
Implement environmental management systems and oversee measures to reduce the organizations environmental footprint.
- Quality Assurance:
Promote a culture of continuous improvement by implementing quality control procedures aimed at enhancing service delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Audit Preparation:
Coordinate and prepare documentation and systems for external SHEQ audits, ensuring readiness and adherence to audit requirements.
- Procurement Support:
Manage the monthly ordering of site consumables to ensure operational efficiency and stock availability.
- Fire Safety Compliance:
Ensure full compliance with fire safety regulations, including equipment inspections, maintenance, and staff training as per legal standards.
- Reporting & Administration:
Perform routine reporting and support general administrative tasks within the Compliance department.
Minimum Requirements
- Educational Qualification:
A relevant NQF Level 5 qualification or equivalent (e.g. SAMTRAC) is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years experience in a SHEQ or similar compliance-related role.

o Ability to influence and educate teams at all levels
• Other:
Must have own, reliable transport (vehicle).
