Key Outputs

To lead and manage the planned component repairs (PCR) and rebuilding of Caterpillar (Cat) earthmoving machines for major customers, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards. This role will involve coordinating with multiple stakeholders, including internal teams, suppliers, and customers, to meet contractual obligations and customer expectations. The role will entail a project management capability across all the regions for the big shutdowns and assemblies. It will not be executing on the ground but will have dedicated project managers and product specialists reporting into it to deliver successful shutdowns and PCRs.

  • Develop and manage PCR and rebuild project plans, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and company objectives.
  • Coordinate the execution of repairs and rebuilds, involving multiple departments, including procurement, engineering, and service teams.
  • Ensure all components are rebuilt or repaired according to CAT standards and OEM specifications.
  • Lead customer-facing meetings to provide updates on project progress and address any challenges.
  • Ensure all work is conducted in a safe, cost-effective, and efficient manner, adhering to Barloworld Equipments safety and operational protocols.
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources, ensuring profitability and cost control.
  • Foster strong relationships with customers, acting as the key point of contact for all PCR and rebuild-related matters.
  • Track and report project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Manage risks and issues, taking corrective action where necessary to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual terms, company policies, and legal requirements.
  • Manage and drive lower loaner cost reduction.
  • Influence the CAT brand perception on sites and create a favourable customer experience
Qualification, Experience and Competencies Minimum Qualification:
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent qualification, within engineering, mining and project management, or a related field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification would be advantageous.
Minimum Experience:
  • Five years+ years of experience in managing heavy equipment repairs, rebuilds, or related projects, preferably in the construction or mining equipment industry.
  • Proven track record in project management, with a focus on large-scale equipment repairs and rebuilds.
  • Experience working with Caterpillar equipment or similar heavy machinery.
  • Strong understanding of OEM standards and repair processes.
Minimum Required Competencies:
  • Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and resource management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage customer relationships.
  • Technical expertise in earthmoving equipment repairs and rebuilds, particularly with Caterpillar machinery.
  • Strong leadership and team coordination capabilities.
  • Financial acumen, with the ability to manage budgets and project costs.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements in heavy equipment environments.
  • Proficient knowledge and application of MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS projects
