Technician

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Industrial Equipment Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in sandblasting, surface preparation, and maintenance of industrial equipment. This role involves working with a variety of tools and machinery to prepare surfaces for coating, welding, or other industrial processes while ensuring optimal equipment performance and safety standards are met.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform sandblasting and other surface preparation tasks on industrial equipment, machinery, and structures.
• Operate and maintain sandblasting equipment, abrasive materials, and other tools used in surface preparation.
• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of industrial equipment to ensure functionality and minimize downtime.
• Follow safety guidelines and industry standards to ensure a safe working environment during sandblasting and surface preparation activities.
• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, smoothing, and removing rust, scale, or old coatings.
• Collaborate with project managers and other technicians to meet project timelines and quality standards.
• Troubleshoot and repair sandblasting equipment and other industrial machinery as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance, inspections, and repair work.
• Assist with other technical duties related to industrial equipment as required.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in sandblasting, surface preparation, and maintenance of industrial equipment.
• Strong understanding of industrial safety practices and the proper handling of abrasive materials.
• Ability to operate and maintain a variety of surface preparation equipment.
• Technical problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or training in industrial equipment maintenance is a plus.
• Good physical condition and ability to work in various environmental conditions.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with other industrial processes such as coating, welding, or fabrication.
• Knowledge of specific materials or coatings used in surface preparation.
• Certifications in sandblasting or industrial equipment maintenance.

Work Environment:This position will primarily involve working in industrial settings with exposure to various materials and equipment. Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn at all times. Training will be provided.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: R25,00 - R250,00 per hour

Expected hours: 48 per week
