Job Description

An exciting new vacancy has come about in our tax compliance team and would be based at our Century city office. The incumbent will be tasked with the full tax compliance function for individual and trust tax clients of Mazars.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Gather and collate tax related information from clients and third parties in order to complete the following returns:
  • Individuals, Trusts and Corporate tax returns
  • Provisional Tax returns
  • IT14SD
  • DTR01 and DTR02
  • WT002 returns and reconciliations
  • Prepare tax computations
  • Reconciliation of assessments
  • Attend to all related queries and SARS objections and appeals (NOO, NOA, ADR1)
  • Apply for tax clearance certificates (Good standing, Tender & Foreign investment)
  • Register clients for Income Tax purposes
  • Estate Tax Compliance duties:
  • Income Tax registration of Estate Late
  • Completion of pre-DOD tax returns
  • Completion of post DOD returns up to final distribution
  • Requesting DEC letters from SARS
  • SARS appointments
  • Ensure quality control of tax returns by preparing a completed check list when preparing returns for review
  • Achieve the yearly KPIs set out in the following areas:
  • Tax returns submitted
  • Fees billed
  • WIP management
  • Productive hours

Minimum Requirements
  • Grade 12
  • A tax or other relevant qualification would be advantageous
  • At least 3 years relevant tax compliance experience
  • Estate Tax Compliance experience will be beneficial
  • Workable knowledge and proven application of relevant tax laws and regulations
  • Ability to gather information, analyse problems and write reports
  • Stays focused and works productively in a high-pressured environment
  • Deadline-orientated with minimum supervision required
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and organise workload and manage avg. portfolio size of 200 clients
  • Solution-orientated and able to overcome setbacks
  • Attention to detail is essential
  • Client service excellence
  • Integrity beyond reprieve
  • Accounting knowledge, advantageous
  • Greatsoft and Proftax knowledge, advantageous
