OverviewThe HV & Grid Electrical Engineer (Site) will provide technical oversight and engineering support for all high-voltage (HV) and medium-voltage (MV) activities, including substation works, network integration, and grid compliance for utility-scale Solar PV projects. One engineer will be assigned to each siteto support construction, commissioning, and energisation activities.Key ResponsibilitiesHV/MV Network OversightSupervise installation, testing, and commissioning of HV/MV equipment including transformers, switchgear, cabling, and protection systems.Ensure correct integration of project substations into the utility network and compliance with design and standards.Monitor EPC and subcontractor work quality, safety, and technical compliance.Substation Integration & Protection SupportSupport protection relay settings, configuration, and verification.Review SCADA, metering, communications, and protection interfaces required for grid connection.Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and equipment performance evaluations.Commissioning & EnergisationProvide engineering support during commissioning and energisation stages.Assist with HV switching operations in collaboration with the utility and System Operator.Verify commissioning records, test results, and as-built documentation.Grid Code Compliance & TestingAssist with planning and execution of grid code compliance tests.Support preparation of documentation and evidence submissions to the utility/System Operator.Ensure all test results meet regulatory requirements.Technical Coordination & ReportingCoordinate with EPC teams, OEMs, protection engineers, and utility representatives.Provide technical reporting, daily/weekly progress updates, and risk logs.Review technical drawings, SLDs, protection diagrams, and network study outputs as required.Qualifications & ExperienceMinimum RequirementsNDip / BTech / BSc in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current / Power Systems preferred).Approximately 10 years experience in HV/MV systems, substations, or utility/grid integration.Proven experience with protection systems, commissioning, FAT/SAT, and energisation support.Strong understanding of grid code requirements and compliance testing.Preferred Skills & AttributesFamiliarity with power system studies and relay coordination tools.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently on remote project sites.Excellent communication, reporting, and stakeholder coordination skills.Experience in renewable energy or Solar PV grid-tie projects (advantageous).After reading and understanding the criteria and minimum qualification requirements explained in the job information Hv & grid electrical engineer at the office Gauteng above, immediately complete the job application files such as a job application letter, CV, photocopy of diploma, transcript, and other supplements as explained above.
