Pest Control Operator

Purpose of the Role:

The Herbicide Application Specialist will be responsible for the safe and effective application of herbicides as part of alien plant-clearing operations. The role ensures proper chemical handling, storage, and usage in line with environmental and safety regulations. The candidate will play a vital role in controlling invasive species while protecting biodiversity and ecosystem health.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct targeted herbicide application in accordance with alien plant-clearing plans.
• Operate and maintain herbicide application equipment (knapsack sprayers, motorized sprayers, etc.).
• Ensure herbicides are handled, stored, and disposed of safely and in compliance with environmental laws.
• Monitor treated areas for effectiveness and report on progress.
• Maintain daily records of herbicide types, quantities used, and application sites.
• Identify invasive plant species and understand appropriate treatment methods.
• Adhere to all SHERQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Risk, and Quality) standards on-site.
• Train team members on safe herbicide handling and application practices when required.
• Communicate and coordinate with site supervisors and environmental teams to ensure effective project implementation.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid Certificate in Herbicide Application / Registered PCO Certificate - Mandatory
• Minimum 5 years experience in herbicide application, with field-based project exposure - Mandatory
• Proven understanding of invasive species control and herbicide resistance management
• Knowledge of herbicide types, dosage calculations, and safe mixing techniques

Job Type: TemporaryContract length: 36 months

License/Certification:

• Herbicide Application / Registered PCO Certificate (Required)

Willingness to travel:

• 75% (Required)
