Association Manager - EXSA (Exhibition & Events Association of Southern Africa) Location: Remote (Gauteng based preferred) Reports to: EXSA Board Employment Type: Contract or Permanent (negotiable) Salary: Competitive salary with 21 consecutive days annual leave Start Date: To be confirmed About EXSA The Exhibition & Events Association of Southern Africa (EXSA) represents and connects the exhibitions and events industry through mentorship, education, collaboration, and advocacy. With over 100 member companies, we support suppliers, organisers, venues, and service providers by promoting industry standards and fostering an inclusive, thriving professional community. ✨ Position Overview We are seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented, and passionate Association Manager to oversee the daily operations and strategic execution of EXSAs member and industry-facing initiatives. This is a key leadership role that requires a dynamic individual who can manage communications, drive engagement, coordinate events, and work collaboratively with our Board and Working Groups to serve our members with excellence. A strong administrative background , a team player, alongside a great people personality is a must. Key responsibilities Membership and administration Manage member onboarding, renewals, and communications Maintain and update membership records, compliance documents, and invoicing Liaise with accounts and banking partners Events and community engagement Plan and coordinate EXSA communications - “Connects”, “EXSA-llence Awards”, and annual EXSA Conference Support Working Groups and regional committees with event rollouts and supportive information Represent EXSA at industry events and meetings where needed Communications and publications Oversee monthly newsletters, social media, and website content Liaise with media partners (e.g., Meetings Africa, Business Events Africa) to ensure EXSA visibility Stakeholder engagement and advocacy Serve as the liaison between EXSA and associations like AAXO, SAEC, UFI, IELA, DSAC, and SETA Track government initiatives and contribute to relevant reporting Operations and governance Support Board meetings: scheduling, agendas, minutes, and follow-ups Maintain compliance with the MOI and contribute to policy and disciplinary matters Assist in drafting proposals and submissions for grants or sponsorships ✅ Ideal candidate profile Proven experience in association management, exhibitions/events, or a membership-based organisation will be a benefit Strong administration, project management, and reporting skills Excellent written and verbal communication EQ-driven and community-minded; comfortable working independently and with teams Familiarity with the South African business landscape (events/exhibition sector ideal) Understanding of DSAC, Services SETA, and industry compliance beneficial Tech-savvy: experience with Microsoft Office, CRM systems, Google Workspace, and social media tools, and basic accounting What we offer A chance to make meaningful impact in the exhibition and events industry Flexibility to work remotely with board support across key nationwide regions, with on- site exhibition site visit , nationwide a must on key event dates A collaborative, purpose-driven working environment with a focus on growth, sustainability, and inclusivity How to apply Interested candidates are invited to submit their CV and a short motivational letter, Let us know why youre passionate about advancing this industry — and how you can help shape the next chapter of EXSA, to cv@EXSA.co.za by 25 May 2025.
