• Red seal trade certificate Boilermaker
• Matric
• N2
• Medically fit
• Valid drivers license
• Minimum 5 Years Experience as qualified artisan within the Manufacturing Industry

Areas of competency:

• Power tools
• Use of combination square to mark off a project
• Identify measuring, hand and power tools
• Identify unsafe tools
• Identify cable rack material
• Set up AC/DC welding equipment including start-up and shut down procedure
• Differentiate between welding consumables such as Vitamax and 309 welding rods
• Install cable racks
• Sharpen drills
• Differentiate between mild, stainless and aluminium cable rack material
• Prepare and assemble work pieces for welding special attention to:
• Channels
• Base plates
• Angle iron (45 degrees)
• Internal bend
• External bend
• Flat bend (90 degrees)
• Offset
• Slugger machine
• Magnetic base drilling machine
• Set up and safe use of cutting torch
• Lay out and mark off pieces and positions from drawings
• Proficiency in general and specialised welding such as, vertical, and horizontal, low hydrogen, inter gas (argon), CO2 and stainless steel.
• The ability to work independently and prepare metal requirements.
• Working knowledge of welding inspection techniques.
• The ability to carry out fitting work.
• The ability to interface with all members of a manufacturing team.
• Apply mechanical discipline about Engineering and Operations requirements.
• Preparedness to work stand-by and overtime.
• Self-confidence with excellent communication skills
