Chief Operations Officer

Chief Operating Officer (COO) - The Well & Co

About The Well & Co

The Well & Co is a purpose‑driven business group dedicated to stewarding companies for growth, purpose, and community. We are entering a focused phase as we consolidate our strategic efforts exclusively in Health & Community Services, covering support work, coordination, transport, residential care, and specialist cleaning services. Our mission is to deliver scalable, regulated, and life‑enhancing services while ensuring strong financial discipline and operational excellence.

The Opportunity

We are searching for an exceptional Chief Operating Officer (COO) who will serve as the critical “second‑in‑command”—an integrator who translates visionary strategies into executional rigor. You will partner directly with our CEO, whose strengths lie in vision and growth, while your disciplined, systems‑driven approach will neutralize operational blind spots and drive accountability across the organization. This is a high‑impact role designed for an operator who builds and optimizes systems, enforces accountability, and leads with measurable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Execution

  • Oversee and harmonize daily operations across our health & community service portfolio.
  • Design and implement scalable systems, such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), dashboards, and structured review cadences, to drive consistent, measurable results.
  • Transform strategic vision into actionable plans that enhance service delivery and drive growth.

Financial Oversight & Cost Control

  • Implement rigorous budgetary frameworks and resource allocation strategies that ensure profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with finance leads to monitor, forecast, and optimize spending, ensuring every decision impacts the bottom line positively.

Leadership & Cultural Integration

  • Act as the operational bridge for the CEO, instilling a culture of accountability, rapid decision‑making, and relentless performance within a compact, agile leadership team.
  • Mentor, coach, and, when necessary, re‑structure teams to ensure that they deliver on high‑impact initiatives with speed and precision.
  • Lead the development of measurable performance indicators, ensuring that every facet of the operation is aligned with strategic goals.

Driving Growth & Market Expansion

  • Execute strategic initiatives to expand service delivery and improve competitive positioning, turning innovative ideas into streamlined, profitable operations.
  • Foster a high‑performance environment where operational rhythm and execution excellence are non‑negotiable.

What Success Looks Like in the First 90 Days

  • A comprehensive operational audit is complete, with a clear and structured action plan in place.
  • Scalable processes, dashboards, and KPIs are implemented across business functions.
  • A rhythm of accountability is established, reducing the CEOs involvement in day‑to‑day operations by a significant margin while achieving measurable improvements in efficiency and margins.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are not just looking for someone with a long tenure; we want verifiable results. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • A proven track record of scaling or transforming operational systems in health-related or community service environments.
  • The ability to transform complex, high‑pressure situations into structured, actionable processes—evidence of measurable outcomes is key.
  • Experience acting as the operational partner to a visionary leader, where your colleagues would readily re‑hire you based on your transformative results.
  • Exceptional leadership skills characterized by decisive, hands‑on management, a commitment to financial discipline, and a passion for improving service delivery.
  • A proactive, outcome‑driven approach that focuses on building a culture of accountability without the need for cumbersome bureaucracy.

Executive Perks

  • Fully remote role with performance‑based travel opportunities to global HQ hubs (such as Australia, South Africa, Indonesia, and the Philippines).
  • A strategic leadership position with direct influence over the operational transformation of a high‑growth business group.
  • A dynamic, mission‑driven environment where you will be recognized and rewarded for delivering real, measurable impact.

Hiring Process

  • Application Review: Submit your resume and portfolio demonstrating tangible operational outcomes.
  • Executive Interview: Engage in a one‑on‑one discussion with senior leadership to assess methods, vision, and cultural alignment.
  • Case Challenge: Present a 90‑day operational alignment proposal designed to drive measurable improvements and scale our health & community services.
  • Final Interview: A deep‑dive discussion with the CEO to ensure the right fit for both strategic vision and hands‑on operational leadership.
