Financial Controller
Peach Payments is seeking a meticulous and proactive Financial Controller with a strong focus on Financial Management and Process Excellence. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial data from transaction-level processing through to the timely delivery of comprehensive monthly management accounts. The ideal candidate will have a passion for detail, a knack for identifying and implementing process improvements, and a drive to leverage automation to enhance efficiency and scalability within the finance function, particularly supporting our African subsidiaries. You will be responsible for managing the core financial processes, ensuring robust controls, and continuously seeking ways to optimise as we scale.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee & Execute Financial Processing:
- Oversee and manage all aspects of day-to-day financial processing for the South African local entity, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, payment allocations, and general ledger maintenance across multiple currencies.
- Perform all financial processing for Foreign African subsidiaries, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, payment allocations, and general ledger maintenance.
- Monthly Close, Reconciliation & Management Accounts:
- Lead the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate recording of all financial transactions.
- Perform and review reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts monthly.
- Take ownership of the preparation and delivery of accurate and insightful consolidated monthly management accounts. Support the reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs) alongside management accounts.
- Process Improvement & Automation:
- Identify inefficiencies in current financial processes and systems.
- Design, propose, and implement enhancements and automation solutions to optimise financial processes, improve accuracy, and ensure scalability. Contribute to the documentation, refinement, and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
- Tax & Payroll Compliance:
- Ensure all statutory tax filings (including VAT, Sales Tax, and other applicable local taxes) for relevant jurisdictions are accurate, complete, and submitted on time. Oversee the monthly payroll process across the Group, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution, including payroll tax submissions.
- Cash Flow Management & Financial Systems Integrity: Update and maintain cash flow reports to support effective working capital management and forecasting.
- Financial Reporting Support & Audit Preparation:
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements for statutory reporting purposes.
- Play a key role in preparing for and supporting internal and external audit processes, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CA(SA), CIMA, ACCA) is required.
- hands-on experience in finance and accounting roles, with a significant focus on detailed financial processing, month-end close procedures, management accounting, and performing financial tasks for multiple entities
- Proven experience in identifying, designing, and implementing financial process improvements and automation projects is essential.
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS and South African accounting practices. Experience with accounting in other African jurisdictions is a plus.
- Proficiency with modern accounting software/ERP systems (e.g., Xero, Sage Intacct); experience with system implementations or migrations is a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills, including data manipulation, pivot tables, and formula creation.
