Franchise Manager (Hospitality)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Franchise Manager to join our team based in Johannesburg, South Africa. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and expanding a refined casual dining brand for a national hospitality franchise, building relationships, ensuring compliance with brand standards, and driving profitability.

This role requires strategic planning, exceptional diplomatic leadership skills, and a strong understanding of franchise management and upmarket casual dining in a competitive market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Franchise Development: Identify and recruit potential franchisees, assess market opportunities, and oversee new franchise openings.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure all franchise operations comply with brand guidelines, delivering a consistent customer experience across all locations.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with franchise partners, providing support and guidance to achieve mutual success.
  • Performance Monitoring: Analyse sales data, operational KPIs, and market trends to optimise franchise performance and profitability.
  • Training and Support: Develop and implement training programs for franchise partners and their staff to maintain brand consistency and operational efficiency.
  • Marketing Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing team to support franchise locations with local and national campaigns.
  • Compliance Oversight: Ensure all franchise agreements and operations align with legal and regulatory requirements in the markets they operate in.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to long-term business growth by identifying opportunities for market expansion and product innovation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field or related experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in franchise management or a similar role, preferably within the upmarket hospitality, casual dining or retail sectors.
  • Skills:
  • Proven ability to manage and scale franchise operations.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Analytical mindset with a results-driven approach.
  • Deep understanding of the South African operational markets and franchise regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and franchise management software, as well as experience with inventory management, reservation and guest review software
  • A senior culinary background is advantageous, and ideal, to facilitate BOH training and oversight responsibilities.
  • Languages: Fluency in English is required.
