Authority

The Fundraising Assistant works directly under the supervision of the Head of Corporate Development (Grants, Foundations, NGO Partnerships, and Corporate Sponsorships)

Purpose

The Fundraising Assistant will provide crucial support to the Head of Development across a variety of fundraising efforts, including researching potential grants, sponsors, and NGO partners, as well as assisting with operational tasks and database management. The role is integral in ensuring that fundraising campaigns are well-organized, researched, and executed in alignment with the organizations goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Fundraising Assistant will:

  • Researching Potential Grants:
  • Evaluate the potential for partnerships and support outreach efforts to initiate conversations.
  • Conduct research to identify relevant funding opportunities through platforms such as DevelopmentAid, Connective Impact and other.
  • Analyze potential grants and determine alignment with the organizations mission and objectives.
  • Compile and organize grant-related information for the Head of Development and assist with drafting applications and proposals.
  • Researching Potential Sponsors for PAWS & WULU:
  • Identify and research potential corporate sponsors for PAWS and WULU, ensuring they align with the organizations values and target audience.
  • Gather contact details, background information, and funding history of potential sponsors.
  • Prepare sponsorship prospect lists and assist in outreach to potential partners.
  • Researching Potential NGO Partners:
  • Identify and research potential non-governmental organization (NGO) partners to collaborate with on shared projects or funding opportunities.
  • Database Management & Salesforce Campaigns:
  • Assist in maintaining the fundraising database, including entering and updating donor, sponsor, and partner information.
  • Create, manage, and track fundraising campaigns to ensure efficient tracking and reporting.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on campaign performance and progress.
  • Follow-up on Tracker Tasks:
  • Regularly follow up with the “Head of Corporate Development” to ensure that tasks outlined in the task tracker are completed on time and to a high standard.
  • Ensure that critical deadlines are met and assist in managing the overall workflow of fundraising activities.
  • Operational Support:
  • Assist with daily operational tasks such as managing Skype, Google Voice, and other communication tools.
  • Maintain and update procedure flows for internal tasks and processes to ensure efficient operations.
  • Support with log-ins and access management for various tools and platforms.
  • Reminder and Task Management for Head of Corporate Development:
  • Monitor tasks assigned to the Head of Corporate Development and send timely reminders to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Support the Head of Corporate Development in completing tasks as necessary, providing additional assistance when needed.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Education: Tertiary education with an interest in Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Business, Communications, Development.
  • Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience in fundraising, development, or administrative support in a nonprofit or similar setting preferable.

Other Skills

  • Strong research skills with an ability to identify new opportunities.
  • Familiarity with fundraising platforms such as Salesforce or similar CRM tools.
  • Experience managing databases and preparing reports.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Proficient with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Drive), Skype, and other office tools.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Time Commitment

● Ability to dedicate 6-10 hours per week, virtually.
