History Teacher (Head of Department)

The History Teacher position is a governing body post and will be available from Term 1 - January 2026.

Minimum requirements the ideal candidate should have:

• M4 (relevant Bachelors degree + PGCE)
• SACE registration
• +10 years teaching experience of the FET phase
• NSC marking experience
• Relevant evidence of being a life long learner who reads into and beyond the implemented curriculum.
• Experience of facilitating sensitive and often controversial conversations, with the objective of resolving conflict, in a school community.

Ideal requirements the candidate should have:

• Relevant post-graduated studies
• Engaged in the understanding and teaching of History from a decolonised perspective.
• Involved in writing relevant published articles in peer reviewed academic journals.
• Engaged in relevant professional fora.
• An understanding of geo-politics, and the position of Africa in such geo-politics.
