The successful candidate will be responsible for managing site staff, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards. The candidate should have proven track record and extensive experience of more than 2 years completed projects ((Number of completed projects with culvert jacking beneath a national or provincial road with minimum dimensions of 3M X 2.5M and 50M in Length) as a junior construction manager familiar with Construction and Manufacturing industry.

The job requires an individual that optimizes projects efficiency, Strategic thinking as the role of the construction manager will be working closely with the Procurement/Legal department. All departments are highly dependent on the position being a competent individual with regards to constructions matters.

The role of the Junior construction manager requires an individual that is diligent and hard working as the job can be strenuous at times.

The individual must have a sound understanding of contract law, procurement regulations, and industry-specific regulations

The role requires an individual that is willing to learn as the work is intricate and complex at times and requires a studious individual.

The individual must be willing to work hard and show initiative in executing their daily duties.

The individual must have good inter-personal skills as job involves communication with a range of people.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Planning and Scheduling: Developing work schedules, assigning tasks to subcontractors, and tracking progress
• Budget Management: Preparing and monitoring project budgets, managing expenses, and negotiating contracts with vendors
• Subcontractor Management: Hiring, supervising, and managing subcontractors to ensure their work meets quality standards and deadlines.
• Site Management: Ensuring the construction site is safe and efficient, managing materials, and addressing any issues that arise.

· Progress Reporting: Regularly reporting project progress to clients, project managers, and other stakeholders.

· Safety Compliance: Ensuring all safety regulations and building codes are followed on the project site.

· Risk Management: Identifying potential risks and developing strategies to mitigate them.

• Client Communication: Maintaining clear and open communication with clients throughout the project lifecycle
• Contract Administration: Understanding and managing project contracts, ensuring they are followed and executed correctly.
• Dealing with any unexpected challenges that happen during the project effectively and efficiently
• overseeing and checking drawings, designs and other documents for the project, alongside engineers and contractors, to ensure that every detail is clear to everyone working on the project

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Minimum Qualification of National Diploma in Civil Engineering or higher
• Affiliation to a professional body such as ECSA Professional Registration or SACPCMP registration) must have
• At least 2 years hands on work experience
• Proven track of more than 2 years completed projects (Number of completed projects with culvert jacking beneath a national or provincial road with minimum dimensions of 3M X 2.5M and 50M in Length)
• Provide Updated CV, certified copies of qualifications and valid registration certificate
