We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Kitchen Senior to lead our kitchen operations at one of our key contract locations.

Job Summary:

The Kitchen Senior will be responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of the kitchen, ensuring the delivery of exceptional food and service within our contract catering environment. This role requires a hands-on, proactive individual with a strong culinary background, excellent leadership skills, and a proven ability to manage all aspects of kitchen operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Kitchen Operations Management:
  • Oversee all kitchen activities, including food preparation, cooking, and service, ensuring efficiency and adherence to quality standards.
  • Manage stock control, ordering, and inventory management to minimize waste and ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
  • Manage kitchen equipment and ensure its proper maintenance.
  • Menu Development & Planning:
  • Contribute to menu development, creating innovative and appealing dishes that meet client requirements and dietary needs.
  • Plan and execute menus for daily service and special events.
  • Ensure accurate recipe documentation and adherence to portion control.
  • Team Leadership & HR:
  • Lead, motivate, and train kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.
  • Manage staff scheduling, performance reviews, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Recruit and onboard new kitchen staff as needed.
  • Resolve conflict within the team.
  • Administration & Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of food production, inventory, and staff hours.
  • Prepare and submit reports on kitchen performance and operational efficiency.
  • Handle financial administration such as invoice processing.
  • Customer Service:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing their needs and feedback promptly.
  • Ensure excellent customer service is provided during all meal services.
  • Handle customer complaints efficiently and professionally.
  • Working Under Pressure:
  • Maintain composure and efficiency during peak service times and high-pressure situations.
  • Effectively manage time and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Qualified Chef with a recognized culinary qualification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a senior kitchen role within a contract catering environment.
  • Proven experience in managing all aspects of kitchen operations.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Excellent culinary skills and a passion for food.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement menus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Proven customer service skills.
