  • A Grade 10 certificate OR 12 months relevant lifesaving experience
  • Valid Level 1 First Aid certificate or will be required to obtain one
within 3 months of appointment.
  • A valid lifeguard certificate would be an advantage.
  • Physically fit
  • Clear criminal record and no pending criminal cases, awaiting
trial and/or pending sentencing cases.
  • Good communication and conflict handling skills and upholding
the image of the City at all times
  • Drug free.
  • NOTE: All shortlisted applicants will be required to undergo
compulsory drug testing

compulsory competency assessments The main swimming pool season commences in September 2025. Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals for appointment as seasonal staff on a NON-PERMANENT SEASONAL CONTRACT basis. Successful candidates are required to work on an “as-and-when-required” basis up to a maximum payment of 40 hours per week, primarily over weekends, public holidays and during the school holidays and festive season periods. Key Performance Areas Job Purpose: Perform lifeguard duties to ensure the safety of patrons and to provide a clean and safe facility. Key Tasks include:
  • Lifeguarding functions including the following:
  • Patrolling, monitoring, and controlling the pool and deck and
diving areas.
  • Monitoring and controlling the entrance to and exit from the
pool and physical activities of patrons.
  • Identifying, preventing, and removing hazards and threats to
pool users
  • Recognising and responding quickly to all emergency situations
