Senior Specialist Legal and Regulatory

Role Purpose/Business Unit:

To ensure that MAST Services and its subsidiary companies are compliant with all applicable laws and regulations and rules; and all company policies, codes and standards; and to implement adequate systems and processes to monitor and enforce compliance.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Institutionalize and manage legal, policy and where applicable voluntary standards compliance in MAST;
  • Implementation of effective systems and processes to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations, policies, rules, and codes and industry standards;
  • Maintenance and monitoring of the legal and policy universes for MAST;
  • Assist in the development and implementation of legal and policy compliance management standards and procedures;
  • Stay up to date with developments in the legal and regulatory and governance environment and keep abreast of new policies and legislation as well as changes to existing legislation;
  • Conduct compliance risk assessments and develop compliance risk management strategies;
  • Provide training and advice on compliance related matters;
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
  • Bachelors Degree or higher in relevant fields of Law or Compliance (Essential)
  • At least 5 years of relevant compliance Management experience (Essential)
  • Telecommunications Experience (Advantageous)
  • MS Suite (Word, ppt, excel etc.)
Core competencies, knowledge and experience:
  • Above average knowledge of all aspects of general compliance
  • Knowledge of OECD, FCPA,POPIA, GDPR, UK BA and AML legislations and Competition law
  • Knowledge of Sanctions and Export Control regimes/legislation
  • In-depth knowledge of the South African Legislative System
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Compliance Practice and familiarity with general principles of good governance
  • Compliance management
  • Be an active member of the MAST legal team.
  • Actively participate in the broader Group legal community to bring benefit from experience, expertise and synergies to of the Group.
