Reports To: Manager On-Air Programming

Department: SuperSport Platforms.

Purpose of the Position: To ensure the accurate playout of content across SuperSport channels as per the schedule. Where necessary replace any content with other relevant content. Manage the day outputs within the TX environment.

Operational Delivery

  • Ensuring that all scheduled media goes to air correctly across all Supersport channels on the linear and OTT platforms.
  • Constantly check the missing files lists on the servers in playout regarding outstanding media.
  • Liaising with editors edit team, traffic team content processing teams to ensure that all outstanding media is sent via the Medway system and copies to the playout servers in time for broadcast.
  • Making necessary and relevant changes that are editorially sound to the schedule where required taking into consideration right agreements, territories and DStv packages. These include changes after office hours and on weekends due to schedule overruns or underruns or due to media not been available. Changes to be communicated to all stakeholders.
  • Contacting Media Asset Management (MAM) or engineering teams in the event of problems with either the Medway or Viz systems to resolve file transfer issues.
  • Liaising with media sales and sponsorship teams for any outstanding elements (keys, reveals, commercials, billboards, stings) and ensuring correct front sheets are attached. Communicating updates regarding these elements to MCR controllers.
  • Communication with TX controllers in all MCR, SCCR and TCR areas regarding changes to schedules and other issues that may arise and confirming that these changes are implemented.
  • Moving old or outstanding media to relevant playout servers when the system does not move automatically. (This includes slugs, reveals, commercials and promos).
  • Collaborating with the production team around changes to the schedules involving live events.
  • Monitoring off-air and on-air (Picture/Audio) for picture breakup, color bars, and audio problems.
  • Monitor On-Air graphics on all channels on the multiviewer.
  • Contacting graphics operators to facilitate the creation and implementation of certain graphics such as bugs, keys, and straps.
  • Communicating with the Scheduling team relating to any l schedule adjustments for all SuperSport channels.
  • Assist with Edit or Production related queries (Such as slug names, program repeat durations and which production person is booked on which event).
  • Monitor the transfer of urgent media. Also, to re-transfer media that purges just prior to going on air.
  • Generating or correcting slug names on Esched where necessary.
  • Ensure the smooth implementation of special event content and content such as memorial programming, event keys and tribute shows.
  • Assisting in the implementation of new channel is launches, by monitoring audio and content in collaboration with the command center.
  • Ensuring that all the MCR log files for the following day or weekend are available and making the media planners aware of missing files or the need for replacement files.
  • Providing daily shift reports on the conclusion of each shift.

Experience

  • A minimum 3 - 5 years experience in TX producer or similar role.
  • Esched system Knowledge.
  • Reporting.
  • Compliance.

Qualifications

  • A 3-year Diploma or equivalent.
  • A Degree is an advantage.
