VP Group Compliance

Job Description
  • Lead and drive the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) strategy across all 22 operating jurisdictions in the Group
  • Assess and strengthen the Group Compliance and Ethics Culture
  • Formulate, design and recommend key compliance frameworks, policies, controls aligned with best practices across all functions within the Group
  • Ensure that the business complies with governance and compliance policies and procedures
  • Assess the compliance and ethics risks and ensure appropriate mitigation plans are in place
  • Align the compliance strategy and objectives to the Group strategic ambitions
  • Implement the appropriate compliance tools to support the GRC strategy
  • Set and report on appropriate compliance KPIs in the Group
  • Ensure proper Compliance Monitoring and Reporting is implemented
  • Ensure robust legal regulatory compliance across all functional and operating jurisdictions across the Group
  • Assess potential compliance incidents/breaches and resolution thereof
  • Determine Groups compliance risk threshold and risk appetite
  • Devise compliance mitigation strategies and controls
  • Responsible for Compliance to EXCO, Committees and Board
  • Manage all external reporting on compliance & ethics matters
  • Manage relationships with regulators and industry groups
  • Lead the Group and functional Compliance teams across the Group
  • Determine the technical expertise, capability and resource needs of the Group Compliance Function
  • Promote a culture that supports high performance through performance management and employee engagement
  • Mentoring, coaching and developing of the Compliance team
  • Create an environment for high performance integrated global compliance team
Qualifications & Experience
  • Relevant Post graduate degree highly advantageous
  • Minimum of 15 years experience dealing with and managing compliance matters
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation including FICA, ABC, POPIA, PRECA, OFCA
  • Recognised compliance qualification essential
  • Relevant certifications and Professional memberships i.e. Institute of Chartered Secretaries, Institute of Directors, Compliance Institute of SA etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of Compliance Management Systems
  • In-depth knowledge of legal/compliance procedures and processes
  • Knowledge of Combined Assurance and GRC models
  • Ability to work under pressure and extended working hours
