Role Summary The purpose of this role is to support the Tax Manager in supervising tax department staff, providing guidance on tax compliance, assisting with tax research, handling tax queries, and liaising with SARS. The role includes overseeing workflow related to audits, tax returns, objections, appeals, exemption applications, and Tax Ombud complaints. The incumbent will also be responsible for monitoring the dispute resolution process and ensuring timely follow-ups. Minimum Qualifications Grade 12 with Accounting Relevant tax qualification with a minimum of 5 years of experience Experience in a tax environment is essential Registered Tax Practitioner or eligible for registration Key Skills & Competencies Skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills Client service and conflict resolution Leadership, delegation, and training abilities Numeracy and strong writing skills Competencies Computer literate Ability to interpret and apply relevant tax legislation Self-motivated with the ability to work independently Experience Proven experience liaising with SARS Strong knowledge of tax compliance processes Competency in interpreting tax laws System Knowledge Microsoft Office Suite GreatSoft SARS e-Filing Income Tax Act and Tax Administration Act Basic understanding of LexisNexis (advantageous) Familiarity with SARS dispute resolution processes Key Responsibilities Assist in supervising tax department staff and managing workflow Support the Tax Manager and compliance officers in completing complex returns and calculations Assist with provisional tax administration and ensure deadlines are met Monitor and assist with the full dispute resolution process (objections, appeals, Tax Ombud) Respond to basic client tax queries and prepare SARS response letters Maintain updated records for refunds, payments, disputes, and tax returns Liaise with SARS on complex issues and attend appointments on behalf of directors Handle Tax Exemption applications and client banking detail updates Assist with training SAIT learners and ensuring their development Participate in monthly progress meetings with the Tax Manager Ensure compliance with company policies, SOQM, and relevant professional codes of conductAfter reading and understanding the criteria and minimum qualification requirements explained in the job information Tax Compliance Supervisor at the office Port Elizabeth above, immediately complete the job application files such as a job application letter, CV, photocopy of diploma, transcript, and other supplements as explained above.
