Construction Manager
We are seeking to employ a highly experienced Construction Manager with a very strong and matured personality, to oversee construction projects from start to finish, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing site staff, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards. The candidate should have proven track record and extensive experience of more than 4-5 years completed projects (Number of completed water steel welded pipeline projects with valves, chambers and minimum pipe diameter of 700MM as a construction manager familiar with Construction and Manufacturing industry.
The job requires an individual that optimizes projects efficiency, Strategic thinking as the role of the construction manager will be working closely with the Procurement/Legal department. All departments are highly dependent on the position being a competent individual with regards to constructions matters.
The role of the construction manager requires an individual that is diligent and hard working as the job can be strenuous at times.
The individual must have a sound understanding of contract law, procurement regulations, and industry-specific regulations
The role requires an individual that is willing to learn as the work is intricate and complex at times and requires a studious individual.
The individual must be willing to work hard and show initiative in executing their daily duties.
The individual must have good inter-personal skills as job involves communication with a range of people.
Duties & Responsibilities 1 Stakeholder Management:*
- Implement and maintain measures to promote good working relations with the client and other contractors.
- Keep updated and informed daily about progress, status and challenges.
- Provide Site Managers & Project Engineer with weekly progress reports, programmes, budgets and schedules.
- Prepare monthly report on Project performance.

2 Project Management on Site:*
- Attend handover meeting with project team on behalf of site staff
- Receive Project Plan and plan accordingly
- Liaise with the Project Engineer on issues regarding project progress
- Compile and provide progress reports to stakeholders
- Ensure that correct systems are implemented in compliance with Contract Agreement
- Manage the flow of work activities to achieve a systematic attainment of objectives
- Control all tooling on site by keeping a Tools Issuing Logbook
- Ensure that all plant and equipment are maintained and kept in working order by conducting scheduled inspections and record keeping of such inspections
- Inform the Project Engineer of any damage to equipment or short deliveries
- Ensure that all the work performed on site meets the required standard of workmanship
- Plan and complement labour to meet the set deadlines
- Procure the equipment and materials required on site
- Manage the use of vehicles, equipment and materials on site
- Prioritise tasks and assign team members
- Ensure that the teams overall resources are used effectively to ensure project deadlines are met
- Achieve targets per project as derived Transformation Objectives

3 Risk Management:*
- Ensure SHEQ compliance
- Plan around possible Project Risks:
- Provide sufficient Security on Site
- Discuss / Arrange with Project Engineer for necessary Transportation
- Discuss / Arrange with Project Engineer for Shipping services / facilities
- Discuss status of Work Permits with Project Engineer
- Confirm Insurance with Project Engineer
- Inspect all equipment dispatched to site to comply with set quality and safety standards
- Ensure that all the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act are complied with by all site employees
- Responsible for Governance and Legal Compliance issues as it relates to the Site
- Ensure Overall Health, Safety and Quality compliance within working team

- Communication to External customers:
- Deliver the project as per description within time, budget as per specifications
- Training the client in using equipment
- Communication to Internal Customers:
- Keep to project plan when executing tasks on Site
- Keep internal stakeholders informed of possible risks and challenges timeously
- Apply problem solving skills to overcome challenges and secure project success

5 Financial Focus*
- Cost Effectiveness
- Eliminate unnecessary expenses:
- Ensure operating costs are in balance with expected outcome thereof,
- Keep waste to absolute minimum
- Implement cost saving initiatives as and where possible and applicable
- Project Budget:
- Receive and monitor the budget given for Site on the project
- Monitor project expenditure to minimise costs: actual vs. budget
- Achieve on tender profit (Improve if possible)
- Do analysis of cost effectiveness for additional expenditure on site
- Obtain variation order for additional costs
- Provide weekly and monthly progress reports to stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to project timelines by managing resources, including staff, materials, and subcontractors.
- Oversee material procurement and inventory control.
· Replacing Expiring Contracts (Create and plan for upcoming reviews - keep track of expiring contracts)
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Minimum Qualification of National Diploma in Civil Engineering or higher
- Affiliation to a professional body such as ECSA Professional Registration or SACPCMP registration) must have
- At least 4-5 years hands on work experience
- Proven track of more than 4 years completed projects (Number of completed water steel welded pipeline projects with valves, chambers and a minimum pipe diameter of 700MM as a construction manager
- Provide Updated CV, certified copies of qualifications and valid registration certificate
