Fleet Team Leader
We are looking for a hands-on, disciplined, and solutions-driven Fleet Team Leader to take charge of our delivery and tanker fleet operations across the Eastern Cape. This role is key to ensuring that our dairy products are delivered to customers and raw milk is collected from farms efficiently, safely and on time.
Purpose of the Job:
The Fleet Team Leader will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our fleet and distribution teams ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of dairy products to customers and collection of milk from farms. This role requires strong leadership, excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage both drivers & assistants and vehicles ensuring operational efficiency, safety and customer satisfaction at all times.
Education, experience, and competencies required:
- Grade 12 / Matric / Equivalent.
- Additional logistics, transport, or fleet management qualification will be advantageous
- 3-5 years experience in a fleet/logistics controller role (dairy, Agri or FMCG strongly preferred)
- Proven experience managing Code 10 and Code 14
- Solid understanding of rural routing, vehicle tracking systems and delivery documentation
- Strong fuel and asset control background
- High attention to detail, self-discipline and a no-nonsense attitude
- Ability to work shifts, weekends, and under pressure
- Strong communication skills
- Valid drivers license and own reliable transport
Key Performance Areas:
- Driver Briefing and Debriefing-Conduct daily sessions with drivers before departure and after return to ensure instructions are understood and issues are reported.
- Vehicle Inspections- Make sure all pre-trip and post-trip checklists are completed and signed off to ensure roadworthiness and compliance.
- Tracker Monitoring- Monitor all vehicles in real-time using the tracking system. Address route deviations, speeding, and idle times immediately.
- Driver Performance Management- Keep drivers accountable through ongoing coaching, discipline where necessary, and enforcing high standards of behaviour and safety.
- Fuel Management- Monitor and control fuel usage to reduce wastage and drive down transport costs.
- Load and Route Planning- Execute daily load plans, coordinate route schedules, and prepare delivery packs, invoices, and other documents.
- Milk Tanker Scheduling- Arrange and manage farm collection schedules to ensure timely and hygienic collection of raw milk.
- Asset Management & Utilisation-Keep accurate records of vehicle maintenance, COFs, breakdowns, and ensure optimal use of all vehicles.
- Customer Communication-Maintain regular contact with customers to update them on delivery times, delays, or any changes to service.
- Operational Excellence- Coordinate smooth daily operations, solve problems quickly, and ensure deliveries and collections happen on time.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: R14 000,00 - R15 000,00 per month
