Production Manager (Press)

Harvey Roofing Products is looking for a dynamic individual with extensive technical knowledge. The candidate should have a manufacturing backround and knowldge on press machines. The incubent should also have knowledge of how to handle a team and make strategic decisions o the presses.

• NQF Level 6 Diploma / Advanced Certificate
• Production Management experience recommended
• 5 years operational and management experience essential

Strategy:

• Implement Branch goals applicable to area of responsibility as derived from business plan into clear direction, implement effectively and efficiently and ensure that appropriate remedial actions are taken.
• Obtain, check, and refine information. Collate and submit reports. Run data exception reports and take corrective action.
• Provide input into the development of the business plan. Analyse business plans, develop and implement functional plans.
• Review and integrate functional plans in light of strategic intent to accomplish long term goals and achieve balance between functions and utilisation of resources.

Financial Management:

• Provide input into annual budget planning process and submit to line management for approval. Support identification, implementation, and development of processes to optimise cost efficiency.
• Effectively manage the branch operational areas and its objectives in line with approved budgets (operational, capex and labour).

Stakeholder Relations:

• Build, support and maintain healthy, diverse internal and external relationships to ensure achievement of organisational goals. Implement remedial actions where required.
• Provide specialised technical / professional support to internal and external stakeholders to ensure achievement of functional and organisational objectives.

People Management:

• Accountable for the Branch Production departments performance.
• Conduct workforce planning to ensure the Branch Production department is suitably staffed to meet strategic functional objectives.
• Implement and manage people development processes such as performance management, succession planning and talent management to meet the departments performance standards.
• Agree and implement own and sub-ordinates development plans.
• Develop and coach team members and encourage knowledge transfer.
• Mentor subordinates once removed.
• Analyse trends and identify competence training gaps and action.
• Forecast learning requirements and pipelines related to legislative and industry changes.
• Identify and respond to potential/current Employee Relations matters and action accordingly.

Governance, Compliance and Risk Management:

• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of organisational standards, policies, and procedures within span of control and monitor implementation to ensure full compliance.
• Monitor and ensure adherence to statutory regulations, legislation, organisational standards, policies, and procedures.
• Ensure remedial actions is implemented timeously to address non-conformances.
• Ensure effective and regular communication of new statutory regulations, legislation, organisational standards, policies, and procedures to ensure full awareness amongst employees and contractors.
• Take responsibility for the quality policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance to the Macsteel Group quality objectives and ensure that the Business Unit / Branch fully complies with all relevant legislation.
• Approve remedial actions timeously to address non-conformances.

Production Management:

• Monitor and ensure effective equipment utilisation, efficiencies, yield, and reliability.
• Manage acceptable levels of consumables.
• Evaluate and manage optimum inventory levels within Branch, implement and control the production schedule.
• Work out and implement standard operating procedures for production.
• Estimate production costs.

Asset Management:

• Manage and evaluate assets. Recommend remedial action when required.
• Manage and maintain asset registers.
• Manage the execution of breakdowns- and preventative maintenance schedules.
